Respect My rights

About RespectMyRights

The idea of dignity lies at the heart of what it means to be human. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) states that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”. But this ideal has yet to become a global reality. Poverty is a key reason why.

All over the world, people living in poverty are fighting for an end to the injustice and exclusion that keep them trapped in deprivation. They want control over the decisions that affect their lives. They want their rights to be respected and their voices to count.

RespectMyRights is a space for you to learn more about the human rights abuses that deepen and drive poverty and to add your voice to a movement for change.

By learning about and understanding your human rights, you can raise awareness and stand up for yourself and the rights of others.

By speaking up and taking action, you can play a vital role in changing the unjust realities that are caused by human rights abuses.

Explore our learning topics and then add your voice to the thousands of other young people around the world who demand an end to poverty!

Who manages the website?

RespectMyRights was developed as part of an Amnesty International’s Human Rights Education project, Education for Human Dignity, co-financed by the European Union.

This platform is maintained and managed by Amnesty International human rights educators and youth activists in Italy, Slovenia and Poland as well as the International Secretariat. The contents are the sole responsibility of Amnesty international and can under no circumstances be regarded as reflecting the position of the European Union.

Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 3 million supporters, members and activists in more than 150 countries and territories who campaign to end grave abuses of human rights. We are independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion.
